I have known about Penang George Town Festival since 2012. Last year, which is the year of 2012, part of the festival's highlights was the murals drawn by Ernest Zacharevic. This year, the year of 2013, we have another kind of murals. The theme is about cat. Based on my experience from last year mural hunting, I have planned a "Cat Hunting" this year with my friends. Besides that, we also plan to visit a few interesting coffee shops. Here, we shall call it a Cat Hunting Project.
My friends (Spongy, Chicky and Yan) and I woke up very early on 19th July (Friday) morning for this Cat Hunting Project. Our journey began as follow:
8.00am
Yan was the driver for the project. He had woke up early to fetch all of us, house by house, with his small Myvi. After fetching the last passenger, Chicky, we went for breakfast nearby. Spongy and Yan had "dim sum" as breakfast while Chicky and I ordered the famous noodles in that coffee shop. We waited almost an hour for that noodles! Unfortunately, the boss forgotten my order so I had to wait for another half an hour.
9.30am
After breakfast, we finally set off to our destination, Penang Island. On the highway, we had lots of fun chatting with each other and took some photos together. We stopped for a short while when we reached Sg. Dua's toll.

10.30am
We reached Butterworth jetty. We planned to take ferry so that we have the chance to take the nice scenery on the ferry. It was so funny that Yan did not know the route to the jetty and we made a "funny" turn into the jetty. Unexpectedly, taking ferry cost more than using the Penang bridge! It costed us RM7.70! We were all shocked. We waited for a long time at the jetty too! It took us around an hour to wait for the ferry to arrive. The two guys were complaining at that time. On the ferry, I took a few pictures of the scenery. However, it was not that nice since it was kind of hazy that day. The island looked like it was covered with a layer of condensed air.
11.30am
We finally reached Penang Island! The next thing we did was to look for a parking place. We decided to start the Cat Hunting first. We turned a big round just to find a parking lot. Luckily, we managed to get a spot not far away from our starting point. We followed the map that I found to search for the cats. We took lots of photos with the cats. Besides that, we found other interesting arts too! Penang is really an interesting place to visit, except for its weather. It was around noon when we were walking under the hot sun. Our iPads, iPhones and camera heated up. Luckily the cats are not far away from each other.

2.00pm
We managed to get 11 out of 14 cats before we decided to go for lunch. After my "persuasion", we walked all the way to Love Lane to look for The Mugshot Cafe. Yan was complaining about my decision, but I enjoyed the walk. =D
The Mugshot Cafe was in the middle of other shops. You will definitely miss it out if you do not have sharp eyes. I found out the cafe in a sudden when we were walking down the street because it was blocked by sun shade and the name was not obvious. We entered the cafe happily. After a while, we decided to look for other shop to have our main meal first. The Mugshot Cafe does not provide main meals. It only has bread and coffee, something more for tea time.
We went to a noodle shop nearby for lunch. The shop was located by Chulia Street. Too bad I have forgotten the name of the shop. The noodles sell at the shop are specially made by them. Chicky and I ordered their noodles while Spongy and Yan ordered their rice. Chicky ordered a super spicy noodle. Too spicy that he cannot even finish it.

After lunch, we went back to The Mugshot Cafe. The cafe was very occupied. There was no seat for us. Until there were a few foreigners who were leaving, we finally had a place to sit. The cafe sells mainly coffee. There are cakes and breads too. We ordered a latte and a cappuccino. My personal opinion, the latte tasted better than cappuccino. Yan preferred the cappuccino more and so he said he was going to have it for his own. Of course, we would ask him to DREAM ON! =P
We took a few pictures in The Mugshot Cafe before we continue the hunt for the three cats.

4.30pm
Finally, we found all the cats! We even bought some nice biscuits/cookies/tarts from a shop at the intersection junction of Armenian Street Ghaut and Victoria Street. Next, we proceed to Gurney for our next mission. The so-called next mission was supposed to be the search for Water Ubah birdie. I mistaken the location of the birdie. It was supposed to be somewhere nearby Jelutong. My bad, but luckily we had another few missions there. I was looking for my goggles. After comparing prices at Sun Paradise, Speedo and Ogival, I still prefer Arena and chosen Sun Paradise. Sun Paradise sells Arena products including swim wear, goggles and others. Imma big fan for Arena products. =P After shopping for my stuff, we had a long walk along the seaside. We were looking for the birdie because we did not know we got the wrong place that time. Although we were all really tired, we had a nice afternoon walk there. Before leaving, our last mission in Gurney was to look for cookies Yan wanted. We were lucky that we found the cookies at the hawker stalls area. We had some fried oyster and banana pancakes before we leave to our next destination.
7.30pm
We left from Gurney to Queensbay Mall. It was a long way but we went there purposely for a nice dessert which we later found out that the shop has closed. We had Subway dinner there before we went for supper. I had my first Subway and it was really nice! We had a short walk in the mall until we decided to leave before it was too late.

10.30pm
Should I say we were lucky to get to Raja Uda for the famous Tom Yam by 10.30pm or otherwise? We knew we would have to wait about an hour for the Tom Yam because the place is always full with customers. Chicky and Yan got theirs first while Spongy and I were still waiting. Alright, it was not my day. The boss left out our orders and I was the last one to get mine. By the time we finished eating, it was already midnight.

12.00am
We headed back to Alor Setar and this means our trip ended. It was a successful and tiring Cat Hunting Project. =)
